UK Digital Agencies recognised at the Webbys!

I’d never heard of “The Webbys” until a few days ago, but now in it’s 13th year, the international awards for excellence on the Internet has announced it’s nominees once again. OK OK, it’s all very American and I expect there will be plenty of heart-felt speeches and tears in designers eyes – but some of the work produced here is different class. The awards cater for not only website entries, but interactive advertising, online film, video and all things mobile. That said, most are website entries with amazing creative, functionality or usability.

Among the few UK based digital agencies to have made the final cut are De-Construct for their Keith Tyson website and their Panasonic Design Museum site. Also, Agency Republic have a nomination for their work on the Smart Car website. These guys have done amazingly well to get this far – the entries are absolutely swamped by some of the USA’s biggest and best agencies. The New York Times even label these awards as “the Internets Highest Honour!”.

The winners are announced at Internet Week in New York in June and I’m looking forward to seeing if either of them take home the gold for the UK!
